Shigeki Oka Papers, 1914-1957

Shigeki Oka was a native of Kochi Prefecture, Japan, born 1878. He was employed by Yorozu Chh before relocating to the United States in 1902. He was an influential journalist in the pre-war Japanese community. He was briefly interned at Heart Mountain but was released to engage in propaganda activites against Japan. This collection consists of correspondence, manuscripts, clippings, and other published materials related to the life of Shigeki Oka. It also includes a small collection of correspondence and miscellaneous manuscripts written during his internment at Heart Mountain (ca. 1942). Materials in this collection are primarily in Japanese, with some in English.
